Marc Albrighton

Postby AvonVillain on Mon Jul 26, 2010 10:41 am

So, Marc Albrighton continues to deliver and looks hungry to take that next step. He's 20 now, not 17, will he be given the chance to show what he can do where in matters in the prem? Or will the manager continue with the 'must play name's' policy no matter what?

I know he was injured for a spell last season, which is a possible reason. But my feeling is, if used correctly and not in the 88th minute, that he could be one of the players of the season..

Thoughts?

Totally agree. And if you see my responces in the McGeady thread, you'll see that i'd rather we saved the money and used Albrighton instead. Cause if we don't start playing him soon, this kid will be off, mark my words.

He is a top player in the making imo, only MON can decide his future at present.

I agree Albrighton needs starts and so does Lichaj ! But how MON sees it remains to be seen , but even if McGeady is bought there may be room for both as MON has been hinting @ playing 2 starting 11`s one for league the other for Europe and especially if Ash is kept playing in a more central role

I thought he was the best player on the field on Sat! Like you said he looked hungry and took on an beat his man more than any other player! I think he would have played more last season if we had reached the Europa! I think MON would have played both him and Fonz in that comp but it wasn't to be! This year we need to have a good run in that comp. Anyone a betting man. Villa to win it is 25/1 on skybet! I'll def get them at 30-40 over here! Apologies for going off topic!

There's no doubt he needs to be starting in the first team else we'll get nowhere with him, but do you think he'll be able to handle the bigger clubs in the league?

there`s only one way to find out ,and that`s to play him . He apears to have the skill & determination to does so ,but needs to play to learn the guile that only comes with experience !

When the team is playing the likes of Blackpool then yes both Lichaj and Albrighton should be starting and playing the full 90 minutes. The only way for these lads to develop is to get game time. It is a risk, play the potentials or buy in the proven deal. I'd be more than happy this year with a top 6 finish and to have Lichaj, Albrighton, Bannan, Fonz and Clark establishing themselves as first team players. It's a full summers worth of buying growing the squad but saves millions.

I thought Lichaj was the most impressive at the game on saturday...

Interesting thread, I feel exactly the same about the Fonz, he is another player that should be given a chance. I feel a change of tactics and Gabby played with the Fonz could be effective if given the time to gell together. Fonze is not premiership sharp and that will only come with games. In reality folks its good to see that we are starting to see what young talents we have. Some of those players would be better than new signings, we have to use them. For proof of this look to Gary Cahill who had a few starts but was never really given a good run.

I disagree ,in that DOL gave him too many starts and MON desided that he was not that ready so the player had a strop and wanted out . If MON had been incharge sooner we probably would still have Cahill , and he`d already be in the England squad !

I recall him playing in a few games but even so, a slip up to let him go IMO.

he needs to start 25 - 50% of our matches this year, along with other players, such as Lichaj and the fonz. If this doesn't happen, our squad will burn out just as they have in recent season. MON needs to adopt the rotation poilcy if we want to play in europe

I think Albrighton will be one of our surprises this season.
